Missed a post last week.
Last week we started looking at monologues and what needs to go into the successful performance of them.
In this unit, the culminating activity and assessment will be a 1 - 3 minute monologue performance (memorized). To prepare, we will do two warm-up activities. The warm-up monologues from Spoon River Anthology will give us experience in selecting, analyzing, preparing, and performing a monologue. This will be done for small support groups only--volunteers will be given the chance to perform for the whole class if they wish. Then, we move on to the lip sync "contest!" This is a favorite activity & gives us monologue warm-up experience in conveying emotion and intention specifically through blocking, body language, facial expression, etc.
