You made it!
This week begins our final unit in Modern Drama, the lit circles unit.
You have chosen your Lit Circles reading groups. This week we will take time to develop a plan for your group and you will choose how you will be assessed on your work. These plays need to be completed by May 26 and final assessments are due June 1 (earlier if you need presentation time). If you are revising your ADH/THC piece, the revision is due no later than May 23. CP "They Say/I Say" assessments are due May 25. ADH/THC essay due Mon 4/25

We will work with Act II of The Heidi Chronicles this week. Focus will be on development of character and authorial intent in the ending.
This week we begin reading The Heidi Chronicles in class.
Final assessment for A Doll's House will be due 3/ 14. Details in class. Independent Reading requirement this week: 2 hours The weather slowed us down a little last week so we need this week to finish A Doll's House. On Tuesday, we'll pick up with Act III, following our very good small group discussions on Thursday of last week.
A short response writing will ask you to extend your thinking on an idea that came up in discussion last week. Refer to your first response piece (and the rubric) to see how you can best construct your responses to state, support, and explain a solid claim. We will begin our Independent Reading in class on Thursday. Have your book! This week we should be able to finish our reading of A Doll's House.
There will be another written response at the end of Act II. After Act III, we'll discuss the ways in which Ibsen subverts the Well-Made Play structure and how that sets up the age of modern drama. Be sure to get your chance to read as a character at some point during the play if you haven't already. |
